Every summer my sisters and, I along with our families pack up our cars and head down to Cape May, NJ for our family vacation. Yes we are there for the beach but we are also there for the food and the shopping. Although the Washington Street Mall houses many interesting boutique shops and there are some great antiques shops tucked around town our favorite must shop place is West End Garage.
Located a quick walk or bike ride away from the center of Cape May and the beach, West End Garage is located on West Perry Street in an repurposed auto garage across from Wilbraham Park. This shopping co-op has a little something for each of us; my sister who loves jewelry, the other who loves cooking and me, the one who is addicted to home decor.
Each year there are new antiques and gifts that are creatively merchandised in such an enticing way, I always leave with something. Art is my weakness, especially the quirky beach themed art by Sean Taylor. For antiques I usually stroll over to the Urban stall and then I head to the River Bend Basket Co to look for some cleverly upcycled wares.
Before we head out we always detour through Beach Plum, the attached cafe, for some of their delicious iced tea and baked good. Can’t wait to come back again next summer!
